In our previous article we discovered that the couple Marge and Ronnie opened a tow service named Frigid Tower Towing and obtained contracts with a local motor club through the help of Marge’s best friend. Marge predominately runs the towing business and Ronnie is a whiz mechanic who runs an auto repair facility.

Life is good financially. They are making five times more money than they ever have before and they have built a beautiful home, yet something is missing. At least, it is in Ronnie’s mind. So, one morning, as Marge is heading off to the shop, Ronnie mentioned that they needed to “talk.”

As Marge is driving to work she thinks, Talk about what?

A few minutes later Ronnie calls Marge on her cell phone.

“Babe, I hardly see you any more. We have got to hire someone to help you run things at dispatch.”

Marge hesitates before replying as this has led to a number of heated arguments between the two.

Marge begins by making the point that she is a hands-on person. Ronnie responds that he agrees that the tow company runs better with Marge at the helm, but working 18 hours per day, he counters, is not good for the relationship. Finally, Ronnie flatly states, “the money we are making isn’t worth flushing our marriage down the drain, is it?”

As lunch time draws closer, Ronnie cleans up, thoroughly scrubbing his hands, fingers, and nails, and walks over to the impound lot for Frigid Tower Towing that is adjacent to their auto repair garage.

Ronnie and Marge purchased the adjacent property right after their towing business started to take off. They had a contractor build a 2,500 square foot office building with a reception area to pick up stored vehicles, five individual offices, a men’s and women’s bathroom, and a break room for the drivers to blow off steam.

The break room had a pool table, a dartboard, and a bar where the refrigerator was always stocked with adult beverages. Ronnie didn’t think it was such a good idea to have alcohol in the office but Marge argued it helps the drivers to blow off steam after a shift.

Marge assured Ronnie several times, “Ronnie, my guys are really responsible. They would never drink or get loaded and drive on the job.”

Ronnie heads to the office, waving at Sammy Stone, one of their top money making drivers, as he is heading out with one of the rollbacks.

Ronnie walks into Marge’s office and sees her with her customary headset on dispatching towing runs for her drivers, She motions for Ronnie to sit down.

After taking a few more dispatch calls Marge calls her assistant manager, Steve, on the intercom, and asks him to take over while she heads off to lunch with Ronnie.

“Busy?” Ronnie inquires. “You know it, Ronnie. I think we are going to have to buy another couple trucks.” She quickly blurts out, “where did you want to go for lunch?”

“I was thinking we could go to the Catfish Calorie House on route 4. That work for you?” Ronnie asks.

“You know how to warm a girl’s heart. That’s my favorite place” Marge replies.

Ronnie knew that was Marge’s favorite place and he really wanted to have an opportunity to have a heart-to-heart talk with his wife. He dearly loved her but she was working their marriage down the drain.

“I’ll drive” Ronnie volunteers. They hop into Ronnie’s pickup and head up to the Catfish Calorie House.
